As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45022), Real First Aid is able to provide a range of Nationally Accredited courses and also a number of non-accredited courses.

All of the training programs, whether accredited or nonaccredited, incorporate the unique, award winning, simulation based methodology. The first aid training courses revolve around simulations of medical emergencies which are simulated using a wide range of props and tools. Including: Fake blood, fake wounds, smoke, sound effects, fake smells, role playing, dress-ups, simulated calls to 000 and a lot more.

Our First Aid Trainers

In addition all of the first aid courses are facilitated by experienced emergency response personnel. Our instructors are either, paramedics, firemen, policemen, ex-military or nurses. This ensures that the training is being delivered by someone who has significant real work experience and a deep understanding of what it is like to face an emergency situation.

The Three Levels Of First Aid Training Courses

The most basic accredited first aid training course is Provide CPR HLTAID001. It provides participants with the competence to deal with an unresponsive, unconscious person and to provide basic emergency life support until further help arrives.

The industry standard in first aid training is Provide First Aid HLTAID003. It is still commonly refereed to by its previous names, Level 2 First Aid and Senior First Aid. The training first aid course covers the basics of first aid. It not only provides a thorough overview of basic life support by incorporating the course Provide CPR HLTAID001, but it also provides skills and knowledge to deal with a whole range of potential issues. Such as: burns, fractures, anaphylaxis, asthma, bleeding, choking and much more. Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) is the course which is listed in the Work Safe Code of Practice as the standard for most workplaces.

Higher risk workplaces and organisations need to complete more advanced courses such as Provide Advanced First Aid HLTAID006. In addition to incorporating all the aforementioned courses, this 3 day first aid training course also covers emergency childbirth, spinal immobilization with backboards, providing CPR with a bag-valve-mask, drug overdoses and a few other specialised topics. Real First Aid also runs nine tailored simulations throughout the course. There is also an option to incorporate HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation into these three days which covers oxygen, advanced airways and oxygen saturation measurements.

Non-Accredited First Aid Training Courses Available

Real First Aid also offers a range of unique non accredited first aid courses. Most noteable tactical first aid otherwise known as ‘an introduction to tactical medicine’. RFA’s team is made up of several ex military paramedics, medics and those who have worked in high risk areas throughout the world. The expertise of these staff have allowed RFA to develop this unique course that meets the demands of anyone working in an environment at a heightened risk of security related incidents such as police, security guards and event staff.

Terrorism, although rare in Australia is a threat, and this course ensures that students leave with the skills to manage a major incident. The main topics in this first aid training course are leadership within a major incident, management of severe bleeding from gun shots, stabbing and bomb blasts, triage and the use of a range of commercially available and improvised bandages and tourniquets.

Our innovative style of first aid training ensures that students leave courses with not only a deep understanding and knowledge of the relevant content, but also with the skills and confidence to deal with the adrenaline, stress and distractions that occur when facing a medical emergency.
