How to choose a course?

Think of first aid training as a toolbox for life. The more training you complete, the more tools you will have in your toolbox. The more tools in your toolbox, the more you have to draw upon should you ever be faced with a real-life emergency. A great way to get your toolbox started is to think about why you want to complete first aid training. This will help determine what skills you may like to acquire first. There are many reasons why people complete first aid training. It could be to create a safer workplace at home or school or just to have the ability to help others. Your reasons can, and most likely will, change over time – and that’s OK! You can always add to your toolbox.

Want to know more about Real First Aid training sessions?

Real First Aid training is conducted in groups. This can be at one of our venues, or we can come to you. If you’re looking at first aid training for staff for example, this is an easy option – no travel required.

Over the duration of the course you will take part in a series of ‘simulated’ emergency situations where you will be guided to respond effectively. Our priority is to ensure everyone in the group leaves feeling confident that they could apply first aid should they ever need to. We encourage team learning, problem solving and participation.

One other thing, while we don’t think emergencies are a laughing matter, we definitely don’t shy away from making training sessions as engaging and enjoyable as possible.

Why choose Real First Aid?

There’s a reason why Real First Aid receives on-going endorsements, industry and peer acknowledgement and positive reviews from graduates. Our dedication to delivering world- class first aid training is paramount. We truly want every student to engage, enjoy and learn from their experience with us. We understand that choosing a first aid trainer provider requires trust, and we want you to always feel like you’re in safe hands.

Why Choose

Public Courses

The Real First Aid reputation is spreading fast and we are honoured to impart essential first aid skills to major Australian businesses and industries. In a few short years since foundation in October 2014, Real First Aid has established partnerships with clients such as The Salvation Army, Telstra, Sanitarium, Sea shepherd and the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, to name just a few. The results are extremely rewarding but our job is not done yet. A Real First Aid ambition is to provide first aid and CPR training accessibility to all Australians with ‘Public Courses’ that close the gap between first aid qualifications and genuine capability to respond to emergencies with confidence.

What first aid public courses are available?

Our highly-skilled and personable instructors are excited to offer Real First Aid ‘Public Courses’ for the benefit of everyone, regardless of occupation, and the courses are perfect for individuals who appreciate safety at home, work, or school. Real First Aid Public Courses are great for group learning and for individuals who require a safety-first approach, with the added public course incentive of making new friends with like-minded persons. First aid response capability has expanded dramatically, thanks to progressive first aid innovations that save lives every day around Australia, and by providing genuine attainments that can be easily learnt within a few hours, Real First Aid is making a real difference.

First aid attainments can be compared to building blocks for progressive learning and higher attainments. Nevertheless, there are some skills that are indispensable for all first aiders such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and airway management techniques. Real First Aid public courses focus on these basics, providing everyone with the opportunity for steady, progressive learning from the moment training commences. Courses such as Provide CPR (HLTAID001) and Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) are the most popular introductory courses providing the foundational skills all qualified first aiders require, with attainments that include:

• Responding to an unconscious person
• Airway management
• Provide CPR to an adult, child and infant
• Management of bleeding
• Bandaging
• Cardiac emergencies
• Communication in an emergency
• Anaphylaxis training

Real First Aid training introduces course participants to progressive life-saving devices such as portable defibrillators and adrenaline auto-injectors; equipment previously only accessible to qualified paramedics and medical emergency staff. The time is right for joining the first aid training revolution, the Real First Aid way.

Does training include realistic emergency scenarios?

It sure does. In fact, realistic emergency scenarios are a Real First Aid specialty perfectly suited to public courses. Real First Aid is the first training organisation of its kind to introduce Simulation Training, where realistic emergency scenarios are developed for training purposes. Simulation training has been used by the military, medical emergency staff and paramedics for some time, and the techniques translate perfectly into first aid training. Simulation training, or ‘learning by doing’ provides superior immersion in learning and greater knowledge and skills retention for retrieval when actual emergencies occur. Low-frequency, high-risk emergency response isn’t a regular occurrence for most people, making simulation first aid training an ideal method for imparting and retaining skills for a timely and effective emergency response.

Does simulation training provide practical experience?

With simulation training at Real First Aid public courses, participants develop genuine first aid emergency response capability. Our course instructors are all enthusiastic leaders in their respective paramedic, medical and military training fields, delivering high-level first aid attainments to every student. Simulation training is also a great bonding experience for friends and colleagues who develop teamwork and communication skills alongside life-saving emergency response procedures and techniques. Simulation training at Real First Aid public courses includes:

• Creation of realistic emergency scenarios to set the scene
• The addition of actors and props to stimulate a realistic emergency response
• The use of fake blood, injuries and other aids that provide real immersion
• Emergency lights, sirens, 000 calls and pyrotechnics to test focus during emergencies
• Real emergency equipment including defibrillators and adrenaline auto-injectors
• The opportunity to develop communication, teamwork and leadership skills

In addition, Real First Aid public courses result in nationally accredited qualifications that are easily renewed and last a lifetime. Our graduates achieve personal growth and satisfaction along with the attainments, making first aid public courses life changing as well as life-saving attainments.
